About Us

We are a family owned independent pharmacy located in the heart of Chinatown and the Little Italy area of NYC. The Tú Quỳnh business was created by our parents in 1993. It started as a Vietnamese sandwich shop on Hester Street, with a video rental service on the side. It was the hub of social interactions for the Vietnamese community in the tri-state area at the time. With the enormous support of the local community, Tú Quỳnh Pharmacy was opened in 2005. The business has evolved and the original Tú Quỳnh is no longer there, but our core values still stand. We are still a pillar of support and hub of information for the Vietnamese community. Tú Quỳnh Pharmacy has been providing valuable services to the local community since 2005 and we will continue to do so for the wider community. Being true to NYC’s diverse nature, we welcome customers of all backgrounds. We serve the entire five boroughs, so if you’re in NYC, we serve you.

Tung T. Tong, PharmD

“After serving in the US Navy, I obtained a PharmD from Long Island University’s Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. I founded Tu Quynh Pharmacy in 2005 with the support from the local Vietnamese community. I am considered as the Veteran Pharmacist and I enjoy serving the multigeneration patients in our community.”

Thao K. Doan, PharmD

“I am a Vietnamese American New Yorker, raised in Brooklyn, so you’ll hear my Brooklyn accent. I helped my parents manage Tú Quỳnh for a short period before starting pharmacy school. After graduating from University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2011, I returned as a staff pharmacist to help my brother, Tung. Beginning in 2020, I took on a bigger role and became the Supervising Pharmacist. I introduced many new clinical services, including vaccinations and TQ Medpacks, to improve my patients’ health and wellbeing. Working at a small independent pharmacy, I actually wear many hats, so you will see me doing various things. But I’ll always have time to help any patient who walks in our doors, so don’t be shy and just say hi.”

Katherine C. - Pharmacy Technician

“I am a certified pharmacy technician with vaccination privileges. I started working at Tu Quynh Pharmacy the same time as Thao. Although I work fulltime at a hospital, I still work as a per diem technician here because of my close ties with many patients. I have a nononsense mild demeanor and can be very persuasive, especially when dealing with tough patients. I can speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.”
